This position reports to the Multiquip Inc. EH&S Manager and is responsible for carrying out onsite EH&S activities and safety training at the Boise locations. The EH&S Coordinator will support efforts as they relate to developing, implementing, and maintaining safety policies, programs, and procedures at the Corporate wide level as necessary to maintain regulatory compliance and promote an effective safety culture.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Promote a culture of accountability around safety and hazard awareness at the Boise location and assist at other locations.
- Willingness and ability to travel occasionally to the various Multiquip Inc. locations for training and other related duties as assigned.
- Review, evaluate and analyze work environments and provide recommendations.
- Represent the Company during safety or environmental regulatory inspections.
- Enter inspection data and generate reports within the electronic Safety Management System.
- Must have a basic understanding of the various OSHA topics including but not limited to, Hazard Communications, Forklift, PPE, Lock-out/Tag-Out, Fall Protection, OSHA First Responder, as well as experience with DOT Hazardous Materials, DOT driver regulations and RCRA regulations.
- Shall be capable of conducting Site Assessments and producing written plans to including corrective actions where applicable.
- Oversees New Hire Safety Orientation Training at MQ, and on-going safety and hazardous communications training for existing employees.
- Coordinate/chair the Safety Committee with the Director of Operations to ensure that regular meetings are being conducted. Review minutes of meetings and ensure that safety issues/hazards identified are corrected in a timely manner.
- Ensures that CA OSHA 300 logs are accurate and posted as required.
- Resolve unsafe/non-compliance situations and practices with support from the EH&S Manager.
- Ensures all forklift, reach truck and hoist operators are certified and that recertification training is conducted in a timely manner.
- Support annual emergency readiness exercises at the Boise location and as needed at other locations.
- Ensures the SDS inventory is reviewed and regulatory posters are kept up to date.
- Support the EH&S Manager when needed to ensure environmental permits and regulatory compliance requirements (such as hazardous waste management reports) are completed in a timely manner.
- Assists the EH&S Manager with Outside Sales personnel and Field Service vehicle and safety training programs.
- Help maintain records of all training events as they relate to environmental, health and safety topics for MQ.
- Ensures that all employees have proper Personal Protective Equipment and that PPE is being worn/used in a proper manner.
- Ensures that all state and federal environmental codes and regulations are being monitored and adhered to.
- Performs other duties that may be assigned by the EH&S Manager or VP of Operations.
Qualifications
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in EHS, Occupational Safety or other related area of study highly desired.
- From 3-5 years of experience in the EHS, Occupational Safety field in a manufacturing environment.
- Additional certifications in 40-hour EPA/OSHA HAZWOPER and other related training certification courses (such as Certified Safety Consultant, Certified Safety Professional or Certified Process Safety Manager) are highly desirable.
- Membership in National Association of Safety Professionals or other related group desired.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
- Ability to successfully roll-out safety initiatives by managing relationships and communicating effectively with impacted departments.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as governmental regulations, safety rules, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of management and/or employees regarding safety information and topics.
- Ability to resolve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only a limited amount of information may be available.
COMPUTER SKILLS
- Ability to use MS WORD, Excel, MS Outlook, Power Point and Internet to perform research and retrieve EHS information with proficiency is required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

- Valid driver's license with a driving record which is acceptable to the company's insurance carrier for driving on company business or in a company/rental vehicle.
- OSHA required training and certifications must be obtained and maintained in current status.

- Ability to sit, stand, walk and climb stairs or ladders as required by company site to perform daily work duties such as safety inspections, HVAC inspections, roof inspections, etc. both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift objects up to 25 lbs. – 50 lbs.
- Ability to see and hear (with or without corrective devices) in a manner which will allow the employee to perform the essential functions in a safe and proficient manner.
