Water/Waste Water Treatment Operator

Where: Poolesville, MD

Pay Rate: DOE

Perform a variety of skilled technical and maintenance work in the operations, maintenance and repair of the water distribution and treatment facilities and system.

  • Monitors the performance of all equipment, gauges and charts in the water wells, treatment plant and pump stations.
  • Records statistical data concerning plant operations.
  • Operates sewage treatment, sludge processing, and disposal equipment in wastewater treatment plant to control flow and processing of sewage.
  • Monitors control panels and adjusts valves manually or by remote control to regulate flow of sewage.
  • Maintains, operates, repairs/replaces equipment as necessary.
  • Monitors and adjusts electric motors, pumps, valves, and filters to regulate flow of water or wastewater through plant.
  • Makes adjustments as necessary to control flow of chemicals admitted into tanks, clearwells, and pipelines.
  • Edits/Develops SOPs for newly acquired facilities or when operating procedures are adjusted due to changes in operations.
  • Audits operations manuals to ensure that all material is up to date at all times.
  • Monitors performance of electrical systems, circuits or equipment of the facility.
  • Ensures that all site log sheets and paperwork are turned into the office by the 7th day following the last day of the month.

Required Skills, Competencies, Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Water and Wastewater treatment.
  • Wastewater Treatment Certification (W-5).
  • Water Treatment 1 Certification (T-1).
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and blueprints.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid state Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain coverage by company insurance carrier.
  • Must have the ability to acquire and maintain Security Clearances
