Home Properties is seeking a full-time Technical Project Lead/Developer with proven Microsoft SQL Server expertise. The developer will design/build and maintain SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) Reports and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), as well as support various self-hosted, commercial off-the-shelf enterprise applications that utilize Microsoft SQL Server, and modify and support custom .NET applications.


REPORTS TO: Enterprise Applications Manager

Duties and Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)

  • Participate in the full lifecycle of software application integrations and implementations, taking on roles beyond that of a developer when necessary. Candidate must be comfortable being involved with business analysis and testing in addition to architecture and development.
  • Develop detailed understanding of business processes and requirements and translate into technical implementations
  • Evaluate system and business program proposals from a technical/architectural perspective, including feasibility, practicality, technical viability, as well as ensuring adherence to enterprise architecture standards.
  • Continuously follow and seek opportunities to improve development standards and practices, technical designs and architecture.
  • Assist with support & maintenance of existing legacy applications; act as escalation resource for other support personnel in the department.
  • Utilize SQL and SSIS ETL packages to transfer data & populate other operational data stores.
  • Deep understanding of triggers, views, and other SQL Server features and when to use them.
  • When working with vendors, lead application development, test and deployment activities.
  • Evaluate system and business program proposals from an architectural perspective, including feasibility, practicality and technical viability. Develop "proofs of concept" to help support/define technical design, approach and/or change; identify risks and work with technical and/or business personnel to mitigate those risks
  • Effectively manage expectations of business and technical personnel alike.



  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent degree.
  • Minimum of four (4) years experience with SQL 2008 R2 and newer:
  • Experience with the following tools and technologies; .NET Framework, C#, ASP.NET, Microsoft Visual Studio.
  • Knowledge and practical experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
  • Deep experience in the design and development of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages covering a variety of technical scenarios encountered in the construction of complex data warehousing solutions
  • Experience in Structured Query Language (SQL) used to develop complex joins and stored procedures
  • Familiarity Microsoft BIDS and MDX
    • Expertise in Data Extract, Transformation, and Load in Warehouse Design and Development
    • Experience in Microsoft BI Tool Set – SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS
    • Kimball Life-Cycle and Dimensional Modeling Toolkit experience
    • Experience with the following tools and technologies; .NET Framework, C#, ASP.NET, VB.NET, HTML, Microsoft visual studio, Report Manager, Microsoft Office 2010/2013.
    • Must possess a strong desire to work hands-on developing new solutions and maintaining existing application components.
    • Demonstrates strong analytical, problem solving and quantitative skills, combined with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to advocate for solutions, receive feedback and collaborate with business owners and peers alike.
    • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills.
    • Strong understanding of system implementation methodologies and the software development lifecycle
    • Should possess an overall understanding of ITIL (or similar) service management framework and related principles as well as the fundamentals of project management.
    • Experience with Java / JSP a plus.
    • Experience with SharePoint a plus.
    • Experience with PowerShell a plus.
