Systems Engineer - GPS

JOB TITLE: Systems Engineer - GPS


  • The individual will support the Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) Program Office (PNT PO) with modernization of a variety of existing GPS receivers to meet existing DoD / civil mandates and DoD / national-level priorities
  • Planning, executing and controlling technical aspects of acquisition programs
  • Will serve as a senior technical advisor to government personnel
  • Potential for liaison work with other Services, AFLCMC Program Offices, Test Activities, and Operational Units
  • This position will be assigned within government offices at Wright Patterson AFB, OH


Responsible for providing technical acquisition management support services to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of GPS related acquisition services in support of the customers mission. Services include some or all of the following:

  • Assist with stand-up of PNT related programs and associated Program Office for PEO Agile Combat Support
  • Assist with development of requirements, program strategies, statements of work and acquisition plan
  • Engineering trade studies and technical analyses
  • Evaluating development/integration of modernized GPS systems into Air Force platforms
  • Satisfying civil and military mandates associated with Assured Position, Navigation, and Timing requirements
  • Bid and proposal review/analysis


Security Clearance: Secret

  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering
  • 15 years related Acquisition experience, at least 5 of which will have been in a senior leadership/management position
  • Experience as a SME/Technical IPT lead in a Program Office
  • Participated in development, coordination, and execution of major program milestones (preferably ACAT I but ACAT II/III acceptable)
  • Extensive experience with defense acquisition management processes as contained in the DoD 5000 series directives
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbally
  • Clear understanding of the OSD and USAF Acquisition organization


  • Masters Degree
  • Level III DAWIA Certification (SPRDE)
  • Eligibility for TS Clearance
  • 20 years related acquisition experience
  • Experience with GPS integration on military platforms
  • AntiJam experience
  • Prior experience at USAF, USN, USA Product Centers, (or industry equivalent) while assigned to major weapon system offices
