JOB TITLE: System Safety/Airworthiness Certification Engineer Global Hawk

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The Air Force Program Executive Officer for ISR & SOF (AFLCMC/WI) has the collective Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) mission responsibility for equipping ISR & SOF warfighters to dominate the battlespace. In order to meet current and projected workload requirements in support of AFLCMC/WI, the Government must augment its organic (military and civil service) capabilities within the Global Hawk Division (AFLCMC/WIG) with Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) support.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide systems safety technical expertise to perform the systems safety/airworthiness certification engineering duties to assist with planning, participation, and recording of system safety actions affecting the international Global Hawk weapon system.
  • Assist with monitoring the coordination, planning, and boarding of systems safety actions for applicability to the international Global Hawk weapon system AWC and final acceptance processes.
  • Assist in resolution of technical and process issues related to international Global Hawk weapon system safety.
  • Work with DCMA to conduct in-process safety reviews, support program decisions, monitor contractor compliance, and assist with conducting Government surveillance.
  • Support systems safety compliance of the international Global Hawk weapon system and related sub-systems, to include identifying, tracking, and documenting each Global Hawk country-/system-peculiar baseline and any systems changes by monitoring related ACSNs, ECPs, CCPs, and TCTOs.
  • Support review of all country-specific Global Hawk specifications, and review country-related system safety reports.
  • Support monitoring International Business customer accountability and resolution of International Business system safety plans and any associated issues.
  • Plan, participate in, and record Global Hawk Program Office system safety actions affecting international Global Hawk FMS weapon systems.
  • Assist in writing and developing contract SOW documents and CDRLs and participate in contract proposal technical evaluations designed to govern the international Global Hawk FMS weapon systems procurement programs.
  • Participate in all standing Global Hawk Program Office forums, including the Systems Safety Board, Flight Test Review Board, Airworthiness Certification Board, and Risk Review Board.
  • Work with the prime contractor and USG engineers to prepare all required airworthiness certification documentation and support the process of obtaining Global Hawk FMS airworthiness certificates from AFLCMC/EZ.
  • Provide engineering support required to oversee and manage investigations and analysis of FMS aerospace systems.
  • Monitor investigations of related USG aerospace systems.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports dealing with such factors as flight test results, airworthiness, static strength, service life, major repairs and technical adequacy of proposals.
  • Provide recommendations to resolve flight test planning technical issues that impact safety and/or airworthiness.
  • Provide guidance on issues related to systems safety and decisions affecting the Global Hawk FMS programs.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current DoD Secret clearance

Experience and/or knowledge of the following activities:

  • Minimum of ten (10) years relevant experience and a Masters degree in a relevant field OR:
    • Fourteen (14) years of relevant work experience plus a Bachelors degree, OR
    • Eighteen (18) years of relevant work experience
  • USAF airworthiness certification processes and procedures
  • DoD Systems Engineering processes

DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience and/or knowledge of the following activities:

  • Airworthiness Level 3 Endorsement, with level 1 or 2 desired
