Staff Accountant

Position Title: Staff Accountant

Reports To: Controller

Appointment Type: Full-time

Schedule and Hours: Varies as necessary

Summary of Position: Perform general accounting duties under the functional supervision of the Controller in support of both JobsOhio and JobsOhio Beverage System (JOBS). Involved in the day-to-day management of accounting operations including gathering and analyzing sales and inventory information and will provide support on financial analysis and ad hoc reporting projects. This opportunity is with a fast paced, rapidly expanding company with growth potential.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide financial and accounting services to JobsOhio and JOBS: Apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing general accounting duties to support JobsOhio and JOBS. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Perform routine accounting functions such as:

  • Bank Reconciliations: Prepare monthly bank and investment account reconciliations;
  • Accounts Receivable: Create and maintain invoices. Monitor A/R aging report and follow up on collections when necessary.
  • Inventory: Monitor inventory transactions and report any problems or discrepancies to the Controller. Perform regular reviews and/or audits of the inventory processes and controls put in place to ensure operations are functioning appropriately and all inventory is accounted for accurately.
  • Accounts Payable: Process A/P invoices for payment including analytical review of vendor invoices, purchase orders, and related contracts;
  • Fixed Asset Management: Assist with recording fixed asset acquisitions and maintain depreciation schedule;
  • Account Reconciliations: Prepare work papers that analyze account balances and reconcile to the general ledger;
  • Intercompany Transactions: Provide support in recording intercompany transactions including compiling data and performing calculations used to determine amounts owed between companies.

Assist with comprehensive financial reporting process including:

  • Financial close: Assist in the month-end close process by proposing adjusting journal entries and assist in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP;
  • Financial reporting: Prepare data for financial and compliance reporting on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. Assist in developing ad hoc financial reports;
  • Audit: Assist with annual audit by providing information to external auditors and work to maintain and improve internal controls.

Other requirements:

  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within inventory and sales of product;
  • Good judgment and ability to plan in order to accomplish goals;
  • Strong communication and organization skills;
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience at a similar or closely related position is required. Education must include a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and candidate must be proficient in MS Office with an emphasis in Excel. Microsoft Dynamics AX experience a plus.
