Software Quality Assurance Analyst (EDM Specialist)

At Assurex this mid-level Quality Assurance Analyst position, you will focus on developing and executing quality testing practices for enterprise data management systems (EDM) and interface systems that support the GeneSight platform and the organization. This will require a deep understanding of the audience of the reports, their business needs, and their processes, to make sure data/information addresses the business need and matches the expected results. The preferred candidate will be passionate about testing, have 2 to 5 years' experience with proven technical ability, but candidates of all experience levels may be considered. This position is located in the Mason office and reports to the Associate Director, Quality Assurance.

  • Assess the integrity of data from various sources across EDM and interface systems.
  • Evaluate systems through direct interaction with users to verify business practices, processes, and workflows are utilizing systems to maximize efficiency.
  • Work with Business Analysts and take responsibility for understanding user requirements, collecting data, delivering analysis and problem resolution. Identify, evaluate, present, and recommend changes.
  • Apply a variety of techniques, including data analysis, data modeling, and quality assurance techniques, based upon a detailed understanding of business processes, to test data structures and associated components.
  • Accept responsibility for creation of test assets using technical analysis of both functional and non-functional specifications (such as reliability, efficiency, usability, maintainability and portability) and ensure that testing reflects realistic operational business conditions to test new and changed software systems or services.
  • Specify requirements for test environments, data, resources, and tools.
  • Create and maintain a prioritized test coverage matrix that is used throughout the development lifecycle, including a strategy for weighting tests by priority and reporting system quality metrics to support test planning and execution decisions.
  • Evaluate risks to the integrity of information systems inherent in proposed implementations, reviews the effectiveness of change implementation, and suggests improvement to organizational procedures governing change management.
  • Provide time estimates, resource requirements needs, and risk assessments for ongoing projects.
  • Assess and communicate the quality, progress, risks, and issues associated with each release at agreed milestones to stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle.

  • Computer Science degree or related analytical and technical experience
  • Experience in quality assurance or in an analytical role working with complex systems
  • Knowledge of financial reporting, healthcare billing, or clinical lab management systems
  • Experience with interface development/management tools
  • Understanding of database design and management
  • Experience in programming and analysis, including skills in UI and service level automation, C#, database query/analysis, and data/file comparison tools
  • Experience in testing Reporting and Integration Services (QlikView, SSRS & SSIS), and ETL functions
  • Ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of systems and their interactions
  • Knowledge of test methodologies and industry-standard best practices and the acumen to apply them as appropriate
