Interim PICIS Application Analyst

Warbird Consulting Partners is seeking an Interim Picis Application Analyst for an exciting opportunity with one of our clients. The position is visible to the hospital's clinical service lines such as Nursing, Pharmacy, and Perioperative Services and serves as a liaison between IT and those groups. This position also interfaces with the business staff as it relates to the assigned clinical applications.

Duties include:

  • Experience implementing Picis including testing and validation.
  • Leads unit and integrated testing of the software to ensure that the design objectives are met, including the development and validation of testing scripts.
  • Leads needs assessment, software design, implementation, support, and reporting.
  • Independently facilitates design of clinical workflow in conjunction with the clinicians and provides guidance to Clinical Analysts in designing improved efficiencies
  • Solving complex workflow issues and incorporating quality initiatives
  • Troubleshoots application issues, with/without vendor assistance, to resolution
  • Troubleshoots system hardware, as needed
  • Partners with end users to understand workflow and business processes
  • Maintains system security for assigned applications
  • Acts as the team project lead in partnership with the Project Management Office on all phases of a project from scoping and design through implementation and transition to Operations
  • Provides input to components of development of end-user training materials and participates in training efforts.
  • Leads escalation of issues with appropriate internal resources, to resolution
  • Develops policies and procedures in collaboration with clinicians, other system analyst team members, and IT Clinical team manager
  • Independently leads application upgrades and troubleshooting efforts and provides guidance to application analysts.
  • Supports and troubleshoots Hospital Information Systems interfaces for inbound/outbound and billing orders
  • Creates reports and assigns work problem tickets to Application Analysts
  • Evaluates and maintains appropriate system documentation
  • Collaborates with other clinical and application analysts to insure system integrations

Skills Required:

Knowledge of Picis and interfaces testing validation

Knowledge of laboratory workflow procedures

Knowledge and experience with HL7 Interfaces Knowledge of LAN, DNS, and networking

Knowledge and experience with SQL based applications

Knowledge of MS Office required

Knowledge and experience with industry standard report writers such as Crystal Reports to produce and maintains custom reports. (preferred but not required)

Knowledge of change control procedures and standards are a plus

High degree of understanding of clinical departments' business processes

Understanding of JCAHO and HIPAA requirements necessary

Clinical workflow redesign experience is a plus

Good written and verbal communication skills are required.

Ability to work in a team environment is required

2+ years experience in a clinical environment or working with clinical applications is required


Education: Bachelor degree, preferably in Computer Science/Business Management/Nursing/Pharmacy, required.


Credentials, Licensure or Certification (i.e. RN, RRT): Will maintain clinical licensure as required by state law


Clinical applications experience requirements: Laboratory systems (CoPath, PICIS, HCLL Blood Bank), Radiology systems – PACs – OTTR , Pharmacy systems (Management, dispensing), Eclipsys Sunrise Clinical Manage, Perioperative systems (Picis), Cardiology systems (HeartLab), Home Health systems, Emergency Department systems, Ambulatory EMR systems, Document Management systems

Ability to travel Monday through Thursday to be onsite at the project location in Ohio for the length of the project - estimated +3 months.
