Duties and Responsibilities:

The Galley Food Service Worker is responsible for preparing and serving food, washing dishes, and cleaning the kitchen and dining area of the Bangor Galley.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serving Line: Set up Service, Dish up Service, Clean up Service, Grills, Gaylords, Steamtables, Hot and Cold boxes, Sink, Deep Fat Fryer, Front Line, Set up both lines, Assist where needed.
  • Vegetable Prep: Food service preparation, Pre-service setup, Re-supply, Clean-up service, Vegetable cutting machines, refers, walk-in refers, racks, work tables, walls, floor drains, all items prepared by 1090 chop log completed. Make sure all items are tagged.
  • Beverage Bar Service: Pre-service setup, Dish up service, Replenish all beverage dispensers throughout meal period, all equipment broken down after every meal.
  • Dishwashing: Clean during and after meal service, Carts, counters, tables, dishwashing machine, polish brass, assist where needed, inside and outside of dish carts, coffee carts, and glass carts, make sure all of mess gear is filled with adequate equipment, temperatures maintained.
  • Pot & Pan Area: Clean Before, during and after meal service, Cooking utensils, pots, pans, racks, carts, clean garbage disposal, walls, counters, drains and floors.
  • Dining Room: After meal service clean up table service, condiments containers, napkin holders, toasters, tables, benches, chairs, partitions, windowsills and dessert bars.
  • Deli Bar Service: Pre-service setup and cleanup service, salad bars, machines, ice, soda, juice, milk, coffee, espresso, counters, deli bar, and utility closet.
  • Speedline Service: Pre-service setup and cleanup service, grills, tables, deep fat fryer, steam tables, relish bar, Gaylord, hot and cold boxes, frontline, breakfast, fruit, bagels and muffins.
  • Lavatories: Door jambs and vents, refill toilet paper, soap dispenser and paper towels, all bright work polished.
  • Office Spaces: Dusted, Vacuumed, garbage emptied.
  • Decks: Maintained throughout the day, kept clean and free of hazards.
  • Floors: Responsible for mopping, scrubbing, sweeping and vacuuming carpeted and tiled floors in the galley.

Experience:

6 months experience is preferred. Specialized vocational, technical, or other formal training may be substituted in part for experience. Must be able to work independently.

Physical Demands:

Must have ability to work effectively under pressure and maintain stamina to perform assigned duties. Will be required to use repetitive motion, reach, scrub, lift, kneel, walk, and stand for several hours at a time. Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs.

Immunization Requirements:

A negative tuberculin skin test or x-ray are required under our contract prior to commencement of work.

Dr iving Requirements:

Valid WA State Driver’s license required. Must have a good driving record and be bondable by Skookum’s insurance carrier which requires the candidate to be at least 21 years of age. Must provide a complete driver abstract if selected for an interview.

Security Requirements:

Must be able to pass a national background check and obtain and maintain Government installation access, as required.
