Cannon Future Analyst

JOB TITLE: Cannon Future Analyst

This position is contingent upon contract award.

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The Capabilities Development & Integration Directorate (CDID) Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Capability Managers (TCMs) coordinate and integrate doctrine, organization, training, materiel, leadership and education, personnel, and facilities (DOTMLPF) issues and materiel solutions across current and future Army organizations.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

As the lead integrator for developmental efforts on future cannon artillery capabilities, the candidate shall:

  • Capture and document user required for future self-propelled and/or towed system capabilities and capability gaps for input into Capabilities Needs Assessments (CNA) IAW the CNA annual cycle, Initial Capability Documents (ICD), Capability Development Documents (CDD), Capability Production Documents (CPD) and/or other required Joint Capabilities Integration Development System (JCIDS) documents as required to support future cannon systems.
  • Review, analyze, and provide input to support future cannon artillery requirements for inclusion into Doctrine, Organization, Training, Materiel, Leader Development, Personnel, Facilities (DOTMLPF).
  • Coordinate and staff potential system development/improvements with materiel developers, operational units (Active and Army National Guard), other CDID directorates/COE’s, USMC, USN, Test Officers, HQDA Staff, DOD Staff, and Multinational Services to ensure future cannon systems meet user requirements and provide needed capabilities for future force structures.
  • Monitor and submit recommendations on behalf of current and emerging requirements/technology for concept development of future cannon artillery. Develop/update associated tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) and review applicable Field Artillery manuals with the Directorate of Training and Doctrine (DOTD), Fires Center of Excellence (FCoE) Master Gunner Division to develop updates reflecting the addition of any new cannon artillery capabilities ensuring that information is prepared for inclusion in relevant Field Artillery manuals and doctrine.
  • Support the development of proposed future concepts and studies for cannon artillery systems and support tests or experiments involving these systems; provide subject matter expertise input and capture and document results that impact the Soldier and Field Artillery (FA) organizations.
  • Track and recommend changes to the Army force structure, provide input into future Basis of Issue Plans (BOIP), Army Acquisition Objectives (AAO), and Force Design Updates (FDU) affecting future cannon artillery systems and units.
  • Develop weekly and monthly activity reports for use by TCM, CDID, and FCoE leadership.
  • Update applicable portions of all briefings for presentation to foreign groups and delegations, TRADOC, DA and DOD visitors and representatives and other individuals and organizations as necessary and prepare fact sheets, talking papers, decision papers and other cannon artillery related documents as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Security Clearance: Secret

  • Active SECRET security clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Military Education Level 4, MEL 4
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience within the Department of Defense (DoD) including military operations, doctrine, concepts, the materiel acquisition process or force development.
  • Minimum: (10) years’ experience in DoD Artillery Units/Organizations
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Self-Propelled or Towed Cannon Field Artillery Units/Organizations.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ specialized experience in combat developments or DOD acquisition (IAW DoD Directive 5000.02) including Doctrine, Organization, Training, Materiel, Leader Development, Personnel, Facilities (DOTMLPF) integration activities for a cannon artillery system.
  • Proficient in the following Microsoft Office Suite programs: Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
