IT Helpdesk Technician


Provides phone and help-desk support for local and off-site users. Provides support to the 24/7/365 hours of operation to include nights, weekends and holidays as required. Analyze incidents and determine level of support required. Apply diagnostic techniques to identify problems, investigate causes, and recommend solutions.


  • Incidents will be resolved on first contact when possible using the supported remote desktop control application as appropriate
  • Resolve all Tier I customer calls within 2 hours or escalate the call to the appropriate queue for resolution
  • Maintain a database utilizing the service desk software of all telephone calls and messages received requesting customer assistance
  • Provide feedback to issues for the team's knowledge database
  • Participate in internal team meetings
  • Self-manage queue of incident tickets based on established priorities to include: ticket tracking, asset tracking and management, patch management, and knowledge database management
  • Ensure that tickets are closed in a timely manner
  • Service desk support to include logging in and resolving issues related to: Hardware (desktops, mobile devices, printers, multifunction devices, peripherals, and cables) installs, configuration changes, updates/upgrades, and troubleshooting
  • Software installs, configuration changes, updates/upgrades, and troubleshooting
  • Network issues
  • All common desktop applications (e.g. Acrobat Reader, WinZip, and Microsoft Office and related applications)
  • Travel between local work locations as needed to support users in-person.
Required Skills:
  • Understanding of the Windows XP and Windows 7 environments
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining standard office applications, mapping and troubleshooting of printers, and other basic office automation issues.
  • Customer service experience (call center IT work is highly desirable)
  • Valid driver license and available personal transportation to travel between local work sites.
Required Experience:

HS Diploma required. Associates Degree or higher in IT related field preferred. Microsoft certifications are a plus. 2 + years of PC hardware/software support experience. 2 + years of Microsoft desktop operating systems and desktop applications. Must have experience with Windows XP / 7 OS, MS Office 2003/2007/2010, PC hardware and software troubleshooting and installation. Basic networking skills, ipconfig, ping, Tracert, etc, to be able to troubleshoot user connectivity issues. Must be well organized and able to stay focused while multi-tasking. Experience with Microsoft Active Directory administration is a plus.

Must be eligible to work on defense and satellite programs subject to ITAR Regulations. Therefore, candidates must be U.S. Citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents (“Green Card”).
